Detailed Trip of the Lake Victoria Safari

Day 1: Arrival at Entebbe

On arrival at Entebbe Airport, you will pick up your 4×4 vehicle from Self drive Kenya or Self Drive Uganda representative who will welcome you. You will later drive to the lodge/hotel of your choice dependent of your budget which will be prearranged but paid by you.

Day 2: Transfer to Ngamba Island Sanctuary

In the morning you will have breakfast.You will later drive to the waterfront jetty located on Lake Victoria to catch a boat to Ngamba Island Sanctuary, located 23km away from Entebbe town. You will crossover the Ugandan Equator on Lake Victoria along your way to Ngamba Island. Upon reaching, you will meet your guide who will brief you, and lead you to the intelligent chimpanzees. You will spend time watching them as they feed, play, and rest.

You will also go birding where you expect to spot various bird species and other wildlife. After here, you will later observe the chimpanzees as they return, feed and prepare their nests.

After this, you can then return to Entebbe/Accommodation for your dinner and overnight at the Lodge.

Day 2: Transfer to Jinja

After breakfast, drive to Jinja with the first stopover at sezibwa falls which is located in Kayanja sub county of Mukono district, where you will do nature walks, mountain hiking, cultural caves visiting. You will then proceed to Mabira forest for birding experience. After here, you will be driven to Jinja through the beautiful sugar cane plantations, forest, tea plantation arriving in time for lunch at your hotel/lodge.

Spend the rest of the afternoon chilling on a boat cruise on the source of the Nile, and later return to your lodge for dinner and overnight

Day 3: White Water Rafting

River Nile adventure-Lake Victoria SafariStart your morning with breakfast and after you will be driven to the starting point for briefing. The rafting crew will provide you with proper rafting gear, and take your trough practical safety briefing for your rafting .

You will set off for your raft through the 3-5 grade rapids. Lunch break will be provided after which you will proceed with your raft, till the end, when you will be offered a barbeque retreat along with drinks.

Return to your lodge for dinner and an overnight sleep

Day 4: Jinja to Kisumu

After an early morning breakfast, Set off by 7:00 am for Kisumu. You will drive to Kisumu, via Busia border between Uganda and Kenya, where you  will be cleared. Proceed to Kisumu town! This is a major city in town where you will enjoy numerous attraction sites including the Kisumu Museum, The Impala sanctuary, the Kiboko Bay, Dunga hill camp-Leisurely destination located around Lake Victoria in Kisumu City and much more depending on your safari schedule

Day 5: Impala sanctuary village and Dunga Beach Boat ride

After Breakfast, you will drive to the Impala Sanctuary for an exclusive wildlife experience. Spend time viewing the African leopard, buffalo, olive baboon, hyena, side stripped jackals, rescued grey parrots, guinea fowls, impalas, leopard tortoise, vervet monkeys among others

Proceed to Dunga beach(located along Lake Victoria shores)  in the afternoon for traditional boat ride, eco-tour, bird watching and thereafter sun downer experience at 6:00 pm.

Return to you hotel for dinner and an overnight.

Day 6: Kisumu Meseum to masai Mara

After breakfast, visit the museum and spend the morning there, then you will proceed to the Maasai market where you will be able to buy souvenirs. You will enjoy lunch from any of the open restaurants in Kisumu after which you will proceed to Masai mara National Reserve. You will drive through the breathtaking scenery of the Kericho tea plantations, to the masai land of Narok. You will arrive in the evening at your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 7: Masai Mara-Full day game drive

After breakfast, spend the whole day game driving in Masai Mara national Reserve-Kenya’s Wildlife National Park. Both morning and afternoon game drive, takes you in search of Africa’s Big five a long side other wildlife including;- Masai giraffe, baboons, warthogs, bat eared foxes, grey jackals, spotted hyena, topis, impala, hartebeests, wildebeest,  zebras and hippos which are found in Big numbers, though cheetahs and leopards are not easily spotted within the park.

Besides the wild game viewing, Masai Mara also offers the most impressive natural event and truly unforgettable experience of the great wildebeests migration, together with the herds of Thompsons gazelles, Zebra topi, elands and other predators joining the parade, along the Mara river, between the months of July and August when moving northwards to Serengeti national park in search of green pastures and then southwards in October.

Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 8: Transfer to Serengeti National Park via Isbania Border along

Wake up early for breakfast, and depart Masi Mara for Serengeti National park with an en-route morning game drive. You crossover to Serengeti via Isbania border along Lake Victoria Shores. The drive may take about 8-12 hours, arriving in the evening at lodge for dinner and an overnight.

Otherwise, you may stop at the border, then continue to Serengeti National Park the next days with an e-route afternoon game drive.

Day 9: Serengeti Full Day game Drive

In the morning, have breakfast and later head for a morning, mid-morning, and afternoon game drive within the Serengeti national Park. The park is very beautiful with bushy hills, termite mounds, rocky outcrops, and acacia trees which resembles the leopards. Expect to spot; wildebeest, zebras, gazelle, lions, hyenas, jackals, cheetah, African elephants among others. The animal migration is the most spectacular event in the animal kingdom which happens in the month of June

Serengeti National Park is a national park in Tanzania that covers over 14,763 km2 (5,700 sq mi). The park is located in the Mara and Simiyu regions and contains 1.5 million ha of savanna. Serengeti national park is famous for the largest annual migration of over 1.5 million blue wildebeest and 250,000 zebra and for its numerous Nile crocodile and honey badger. It is also the centerpiece of the Serengeti Ecosystem which is twice as large and includes the neighboring Ngorongoro Conservation Area, and Maasai Mara National Reserve in bordering Kenya.

Return to the Lodge for dinner and an overnight stay

Day 10: Serengeti to Mwanza

After breakfast, you will head for morning game drive as you exit Serengeti for Mwanza, through the Ndabaka gate. With en-route lunch, you will drive around the city, visiting commercial center such as The Sukuma Museum, the fish market among others. Proceed to the Lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 11: Drive to Bukoba

After morning breakfast, drive via Bihalamuro Game Reserve, and proceed by road to the Round about, after which you turn  right, arriving at Bukoba-situated along the Lake Victoria shores. Dinner and Overnight at the Bukoba Campsite.

Day 12:Transfer to Masaka to Ssesse Island

In  the morning, have breakfast and depart Bukoba for masaka town via Mutukula Border. You will clear yourself, as well as the vehicle at the border. On arrival at Masaka, proceed to Nabugabo-known for bird watching. After here you Board MV to Ssese Island, reaching at your lodge in the late evening.

Dinner and overnight at the Beach

Day 13: Full day Relaxing

After breakfast, enjoy the whole day on activities such as boat riding on ssese islands, Nature walks in the forest, birding among others, and later return for lunch at the lodge. Spend your afternoon swimming at the pool or by the lake Victoria shore closer to the Lodge.

Day 14: Departure

Wake up early and depart Ssesse Island for Entebbe at 5:00am, arriving in Entebbe at 9:00am. Proceed to the Airport to catch up with your scheduled flight.
