Detailed Itinerary For 8 Days Samburu Olpegeta & Lake Naivasha
Day 1: Nairobi – Samburu National Reserve
In the morning, you will be picked from either your accommodation or airport, then continue with the driver guide to Samburu National Park, where you will check in at an accommodation, where the Ewaso Nyiro River Flows.
Relax in the afternoon by the veranda, as you view animals converge by the river shore to drink water. Later set off for an evening game drive, so as to encounter with animals like the elephants, Zebra, Lion, Cheetah, Buffalo, Oryx, endangered Grevy’s Zebra, the Reticulated Giraffe and more.
Return to the lodge for dinner and an overnight rest.
Day 2: Samburu – Ol pejeta Conservancy
Rise up early, and embark on your early morning game drive, that starts at 6:30 am. You will be driven along the trails to catch up with cats from their hunt. Thereafter, return to the lodge for mid-breakfast at 9:30 am.
Pack your bags then and depart Samburu for Olpejeta conservancy for a must see Big 5 (Lions, Leopards, Elephants, Buffaloes and Rhinos), while other common animals include Water bucks, Impalas, Gazelles, Warthogs.
Once inside the conservancy, you can also visit the chimpanzee sanctuary to visit chimpanzees sanctuary which is not paid for, like it is for the case of the last 2 remaining white Rhinos.
Other activities to enjoy at the park, include, Night game drives, Rhino tracking, Dog tracking among others.
Return for lunch, then transfer to Lake Nakuru National Park, where you will have dinner and overnight will be provided.
Day 3: Full Day Game drive
Wake up early enough by 6:30 am for the morning game drive. You will first encounter many herds of Zebras, Buffaloes, Water bucks, gazelles grazing within the pack. Other animals to be encountered include Black & white Rhinos, Elephants, reticulated giraffes not forgetting the lesser & greater flamingoes for which Lake Nakuru National Park is famous.
Mid breakfast will be served, once you are back in the lodge, then relax in the afternoon, followed by another late evening game drive.
Enjoy your delicious dinner, and later go for a born fire sitting, before proceeding for your overnight sleep.
Day 4 : Transfer to Lake Naivasha National Parl
Early in the morning after breakfast, transfer to Lake Naivasha National Park, where you will arrive intime for lunch.
After lunch, proceed for a boat launch to the crescent Island on the Lake Naivasha Fresh waters.
While at the crescent island, you will be able to walk by the help of an experienced and Knowledgeable guide among the giraffes, zebras, water-bucks, impalas and numerous bird species.
Chances are that, some visitors might spot a leopard, although its not common.( It’s also a good spot for a picnic lunch for those on a full day excursion)
Return for dinner in your hotel/lodge/camp near Lake Naivasha National Park.
Day 5: Hells Gate – Lake Naivasha
After breakfast, proceed to Hell’s Gate and start biking tour for 2 hours within hell’s gate among animals like Bushbucks, Dik Dik, Giraffes, Gazelles, Gnus, Hartebeests, Impalas, Klipspringers, Buffaloes, Hyraxes, Zebras, Hyenas, Jackals, Mongooses, Baboons, Monkeys and Porcupines amongst others.
You can then proceed for 2 to 4 hours nature walk at the Oljorowa gorge so as to enjoy the beautiful scenery surrounding the gorge, as well as seeing some of the geisures which proves that an eruption can still occur, when an earthquake occurs due to the magma that is believed to be beneath the rocks.
Later head to the lodge for lunch and embark on your journey to Maasai Mara.
Arrive in the evening at the hotel. Dinner and overnight at the accommodation.
Day 6 & 7:
After your early morning cup of tea/coffee, set off for a full day game drive, where you will choose between full day exploration with picnic lunch, otherwise, you can opt for Morning game drive, mid-morning breakfast & Lunch at the hotel, then you head for the evening game drive.
Animals to encounter are among others include lions, zebras, antelope, hyenas, giraffes, elephants and wildebeest . During migration season, chances are that, you might to see there migration, one of the wonders of the world.
If time allows, you can also visit the masai village and get to see how they live as well as their culture. (at an extra expense) .
Later dinner and overnight at the lodge.
Day 8: Masai Mara – Nairobi
Wake up and have arelaxed breakfast, and drive enroute Maasai Mara plains, as you exit the Park , so as to return to Nairobi’s Jommo Kenya International Airport.
